WisDOT applied for a $246.2 million Infrastructure for Rebuilding America (INFRA) discretionary federal grant that would be used to complete the I-94 North South corridor project between Milwaukee and the state line. The INFRA grant would cover just under half of the remaining $492.5 million in project costs. The Foxconn manufacturing plant will be located just east of I-94 in Racine County.
WisDOT is planning to invest $134 million over the next three years in improvements to state and local roads near the Foxconn development. This includes dedicated, all-weather Connected & Automated Vehicle lanes to facilitate autonomous freight shipments and to shuttle 4,000 workers per shift from parking lots west of I-94 to the manufacturing plant a couple of miles to the east.
