WisDOT recently announced Scott Lawry as the Deputy Secretary of the Department. Read Secretary Kristina Boardman's message below:

"I am pleased to announce Scott Lawry as the new Deputy Secretary of the Wisconsin Department of Transportation

Scott has spent his entire professional career with the Department, beginning as an intern at the DTSD SW Region LaCrosse office. Upon graduating from UW-Madison in Civil Engineering, Scott accepted full time employment in the LaCrosse office where he worked as a staff engineer, project manager, and a supervisor in technical services and project development. He then served as the Proposal Management Section Chief for five years, the Director of the Bureau of Technical Services for four years and has been the Deputy Administrator of the Division of Transportation Systems Development since December 2021. Scott remains a registered Professional Engineer in the State of Wisconsin.

Scott has two adult children, Amber and Bret.  Amber has a degree in education from UW-Oshkosh and works for the Stevens Point School District, along with her husband, Matt.  Bret is a special needs young man who brightens the smiles of those around him.  Scott has 2 grandsons, Jayce and Sawyer that he enjoys seeing grow and develop each year.  Scott and his significant other, Michelle, enjoy cheering for the Wisconsin Badgers but their most enjoyable time is spent with family and friends.

A few priorities that Scott has specifically noted, in moving to this position include:

  1. Improving safety for the traveling public, and the many employees that build and support our network.
  2. Developing our workforce to take on both today’s needs, and those in the future.
  3. Responsibly manage the Department’s funding to accomplish our current priorities, while looking ahead to more sustainable funding opportunities for future needs.
  4. Improve the technologies and tools we have to best meet the needs of the traveling public and our customers.

Please join me in congratulating Scott on this new opportunity and helping him transition to this new role. Feel free to send this note within your divisions for awareness.

Thank you!

Kristina"
