'CORRE would like to congratulate WisDOT, Zenith Tech (ZTI), CGC, and others on winning two Excellence in Construction awards this year for the I-43 projects in Milwaukee County. This major accomplishment was made possible by a large-scale team effort which overcame numerous challenges and successfully completed these projects for the State of Wisconsin, first responders, and the traveling public. CORRE is honored to have worked alongside this team on both the I-43 URT (Union Refrigerator Transit Co.) and the Hampton Avenue On Ramp Bridge projects which received the State Awards for the Large Contract and Large Structure categories.
On both projects, the team partnered with WisDOT, ZTI, and others to overcome numerous challenges and utilize innovative and cost-effective solutions to keep work progressing and minimize cost overruns. This teamwork, along with frequent communication with stakeholders, resulted in impressive projects that received positive feedback from commuters and were completed on time.
“It was an honor and privilege to be part of such a collaborative and driven team that assisted in the successful delivery of the initial projects on the IH 43 corridor reconstruction program," said CORRE Construction Project Leader, Bill Koutnik, PE. "Almost every element of WisDOT road and bridge construction was incorporated into this project, plus a few unexpected issues on which WisDOT, the contractors, and the project team came together to find solutions and cross the finish line!”
